Maharaja Train in India best and most expensive train journey in the World

The Maharaja Express Train of India has received the coveted "The World's Leading Luxury Train Award" twice in a row at The World Travel Awards of 2012 and 2013 and expect to bag it again in 2014 to make it a hatrick. So it is without doubt the best train in the world. Traveling in the Maharaja Express Train is the most expensive train ride in the world.

The Maharaja Express has been dubbed as India’s Orient Express and better than the one in Europe. The Indian Railways runs this wonder train service. The Maharajah express royal train of India can accommodate 88 passengers in super comfort in the 20 deluxe double rooms, 18 junior suites, 4 full suites and one Presidential Suite which has two bedrooms and a sitting room. The facilities offered are better than a 5 star hotel. The whole train has broadband Wi-Fi internet, direct telephones and satellite TV. There are 2 separate dining cars with restaurants and bars.

The theme of this train is to make you feel like a Maharaja, the old Kings of India, who used to have a very luxurious life style including private trains instead of private jets of the super rich now.

The private Trains of the Maharajas were lavishly decorated and furnished. They used to travel in their Royal trains in pomp and pageantry with many servants and throwing lavish parties on board the train with the best of food and wine. The modern day Maharaja express train is an attempt at recreating the charm and pomp of those old Maharajah trains. The video below gives an idea as to what the Indian Maharaja train is all about
